One of modern lives' conveniences is the garage door opener. Yet, every opener is bound to have various problems over time. Sometimes, the problem may be something very minor that you could try and troubleshoot yourself. Why Your Automatic Opener Isn’t Working

Checking the Power Sources

Some openers are connected to the homes electrical unit and some wall mounted units run on battery. If you are having any trouble with the remote control, there may be a problem with the wall unit. Change the batteries in the wall unit to see if this fixes the issue. If this doesn’t work, determine if there is a problem with the plug. Look for a lose plug or possibly a scorched wire. If there is no signs of trouble with the plug, locate the fuse box in your home and determine which breaker operates your opener wall unit. The breaker isn’t pointing in the same direction as the others, this is the one that needs to be reset. If none are off, turn it off and back on anyway to see if it doesn’t resolve the problem.

Checking the Battery

In this case, if the opener doesn’t open, it may be time to replace the batteries. We know that you may be in a hurry and just can’t think but first consider that the battery could be the issue. Additional Issues and Solutions

The problem may not be with our opener but with other parts of your garage. In some instances, the opener may be working but the doors still will not open. In this case the problem could be a broken chain, worn gears or the door sensors may no longer be communicating to the opener. There are things that may cause the opener to work on its own but prevent the door from opening, such as a damaged circuit board or a bad transmitter. If your door reverses when you are trying to close them, this could mean that there is something in front of the doors sensors. This serves as a safety precaution and can be resolved by removing the object.
